Most valuable Euro '24 squads, name EPLs top scorers, best young sports journos, race walker overtaken on the line
Football Benchmark has calculated the value of each of the Euro 24 squads. Looking at the 18 most valuable players in each squad, England leads with an impressive €1,382 million, while the nation with the lowest squad value is Romania, at €78.1 million. Only three squads surpass the €1 billion mark: England, France, and Portugal, while the average squad value stands at €471.5 million.
Jerry West, the basketball legend whose silhouette inspired the iconic NBA logo, has died aged 86. West featured in nine NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning the title once in 1972. He was also an NBA All-Star in every season of his 14-year playing career. West was the third player in league history to reach 25,000 points after Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson - retiring on 25,192.

Joy turned to junk for the Spanish race walker, Laura García-Caro, on the opening day of the European Athletics Champs, as a premature celebration cost her a medal.
Five metres from the end of the women’s 20km race walk, García-Caro punched the air and stuck her tongue out in triumph, thinking bronze was secure.
But Ukrainian, Lyudmila Olyanovska, made up a 50-metre gap before getting past her a stride before the line. When García-Caro turned to her right as she felt her rival approaching, she gave a look of horror, realising her dreams of glory had suddenly been shattered.
